- Ingredients:
- 1 cup Pahadi Sabut Urad Dal
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups water
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
- 2 tablespoons ghee or oil
- Instructions:
- Soak the Dal: Clean and soak the urad dal in water for 5-6 hours or overnight.
- Cook the Dal: In a pressure cooker, add the soaked dal, water, salt, turmeric powder, and ginger-garlic paste. Cook for 3-4 whistles.
- Prepare the Tadka: In a pan, heat ghee or oil. Add cumin seeds, and let them splutter. Add chopped onions and green chilies, and sauté until golden brown.
- Combine: Add the cooked dal to the pan with the tadka. Mix well and simmer for a few minutes.
- Garnish and Serve: Add garam masala, mix well, and garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve hot with rice or roti.
